Balancing a 9-5 Job with side Passions

This past summer I worked a regular 9-5 internship. But I also wanted to explore my passion in the entertainment industry. Well, how did I do it?

The Weekends

This may seem obvious, but the weekends are going to be your biggest friend. This past summer I was working as a brand marketing intern at LEE Jeans. It was an awesome experience and I really learned to love the fashion and apparel industry. However, I am a man of many interests, and I still wanted to pursue my passion in entertainment. So over the weekends, I would PA for short films, attend (and even participate) in comedy and improv shows, etc. Although I would be tired sometimes from a 40 hour working week, I was passionate about what I did, and learned so much because of those weekends.

The Mornings

As someone who has never been a morning person, I would never in my life imagined waking up early to get things done.

Almost everyday before work, I would go on a morning jog to get started for the day, then read a book about the film industry and how to break in. The book gave tips about networking, auditions, and all kinds of tricks on how to make it in the industry. By reading in the mornings, I was able to further my passions in the entertainment industry.
