One week ago I had to privilege to interview senior Carolina volleyball player, Karenna Wurl. After spending an extended period of time with her, I now have a little insight on what's like to be a student athlete, specifically a volleyball player, here at UNC

Since it's the fall semester, Karenna is currently in season and travels almost every week for volleyball. "Usually, we travel to tournament and play multiple games in that state" says Karenna. "It can get pretty tiring sometimes, but it's always a fun time.:

When she's on campus, Karenna starts off her morning with a workout. "Recently, the moved practices to the morning and I like it because it feels like we can just get it out of the way instead of trying to squeeze it in between classes" she told me.

After practice, Karenna usually grabs a quick breakfast then heads off for classes.

"Honestly the practices get me awake and ready for my earlier classes."

After classes, Karenna usually has another commitment for volleyball. Sometimes it's physical therapy, sometimes it's talking to a sport's therapist, and sometimes it's even cupping for recovery. She tells me that during a regular week, volleyball only takes up around 3-4 hours of her day.

"It's really just the travel that makes my college experience different. Missing classes and exams for a tournament or a game is definitely not something that everyone experiences."

As a senior, Karenna has been reflecting on her college career and UNC will walk away with fond memories.

"Volleyball has given me so much, but my teammates and friends are what have made my Carolina experience so great."
